Balchey Thear Petroglyphs, Nazbar Yasin Vallay.
Archaeologists are still struggling to gather enough evidence before reaching the final conclusions about the location of the Gharai Dan rock at Balchay thear 150 km from Gilgit.
There are thousands of inscriptions and impressions on this eleven hundred square feet rock. Sketches of animals, humans and some of the landmarks on the rock, mostly of macaws, mountain goats and other animals, as well as various other landmarks and buildings besides hunters and horsemen. Mountain images depicting hunters, various tools, landmarks, and mountain goats suggest that they are post-Buddhist images, in which beliefs and civilizations are changing.
Five hour trek from Yawooz to this point. Balchey thear is a summer pasture, people only come here in summer with animal's. It is not possible to come here due to heavy snowfall in winter. People have dug ancient human graves near this rock in this drain. The remains of these tombs and the carvings on the eleven hundred square feet of rock suggest that they were inhabited in ancient times. Experts in human civilization and archeology are urged to investigate the ancient human tombs in the canal and the carvings on the rock called Gharei Dan.
