Radio Pakistan Gilgit was inaugurated by General Faiz Ali Chisti on April 2, 1979, And the first voice to be heard from Radio Pakistan Gilgit is that of Muhammad Amin Zia. The first station director is Saleem Iqbal and the first producer is Muhammad Akram Khan. Initially, only two languages were broadcast in Shina and Urdu. At present, Radio Pakistan Gilgit broadcasts in Urdu, Shina, Brushaski, Wakhi and Khowar languages. Radio Pakistan Gilgit broadcasts from Medium Views 1512 and FM 93 from 2pm to 10pm. In today's modern age, television, mobile and internet have revolutionized the field of communication. But radio is still very popular today. Radio Pakistan Gilgit has been translating the local languages of Gilgit-Baltistan for the last four decades.
